SMETA available on new, free-to-use ‘ITC Standards Map 2.0(Time:2014-04-23 17:18:00)

The International Trade Centre (ITC) has launched the version 2.0 of its ‘Standards Map’ web-tool that allows producers, factories and manufacturers, buyers and retailers to review and compare sustainability standards, codes of conducts, audit protocols and related best practice tools.
This new version of the Standards Map is now completely free of charge to all users and is composed of 4 modules:
A module to ‘Identify’ standards using specific filters such as country/region, product/industry, or sustainability hotspot;
A ‘Quick-Scan’ module to review the main features and characteristics of these standards such as audit process, costs, governance, requirements;
A module to ‘Compare’ the standards’ requirements and related conformity assessment procedures; and
A ‘Self-Assessment’ module that allows producers, manufacturers and exporters to ‘self-assess’ themselves against a dedicated set of voluntary standards’ requirements.
ITC and Sedex have partnered to include the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) – one of the world’s most commonly used responsible audit methodologies – on the Standards Map platform, to enable quick-scan analyses, reviews and comparisons with other standards and audit systems.“Having SMETA referenced on the Standards Map website is a wonderful asset and source of relevant information that is being much appreciated by our 75k current users. SMETA offers a very comprehensive set of references for ethical trade and we encourage all companies, buyers and retailers but also producers and manufacturers to learn about it using our totally revamped and very user-friendly new platform of Standards Map 2.0”“Collaborating with ITC has been an enriching experience for Sedex. Not only does Standards Map provide a simple and useful platform for users to compare, analyse and review the breath and scope of SMETA, it also is an important initiative to drive convergence and understanding between standard organisations. Sedex is very pleased to be referenced in the ITC Standards Map and we expect to deepen the collaboration with ITC in 2014 to cross-link our respective tools and platforms, to further understanding and accessibility of information for all users.” (Emily Pearce, StakeholderManger ,Sedex)
